a true fact that blew my mind: besides primates and primatomorphs and tree shrews, our closest relatives among the mammals are rabbits and rodents (collectively ‘glires’). we all have a vermiform appendix, which has evolved convergently many times but was shared in its approximate supraprimate form by our most recent common ancestor, which was probably some kind of fucked up rat (with thumbs???)
